A charming hand carved wooden crocodile dating to the mid-20th century.

Carved from hardwood with excellent attention to detail, featuring a deeply textured body, carved scales, defined legs and an expressive open mouth. The timber has developed a rich aged colour and attractive natural patina acquired through decades of age.

Ideal as a decorative object, shelf piece or addition to a collection of folk art or ethnographic carvings.

Each crocodile measures approximately 16½ inches (42cm) in length. There is a small historic loss to the tip of the tail, as shown in the photographs, consistent with age and use. Otherwise both examples remain in good decorative condition.
