A striking hand carved articulated wooden snake dating to the mid-20th century.

Expertly carved from a single hardwood and formed from individually jointed sections, the snake retains its full flexibility, allowing it to be posed naturally. The surface displays a warm aged patina with deeply carved scale decoration throughout, terminating in a well-modelled head.

Originally produced as a decorative carving, today it makes an excellent statement piece for a bookshelf, coffee table, cabinet of curiosities or interior display.

The carving measures approximately 40 inches (102cm) in length and remains in good decorative condition. There is a small historic loss to the neck area, as shown in the photographs, which does little to detract from its overall presentation.
