A rare and important example of an early 19th century English mahogany breakfront sideboard, retaining its original fitted wine cellaret in unaltered condition.

Constructed in solid mahogany and veneered in exceptionally well-figured flame mahogany, the sideboard displays remarkable depth of colour and surface quality throughout. The architectural breakfront form is defined by strong proportions, panelled cupboard doors and refined pilaster detailing, all raised on a moulded plinth base, exemplifying the restrained confidence of Regency cabinetmaking at its best.

The interior survives in its original configuration, with one cupboard fitted with a purpose-made upright bottle cellaret and the opposing cupboard retaining shelving intended for linen, plate and serving wares. The complete survival of the cellaret is particularly noteworthy, as such fittings were commonly removed or altered during the 19th century.
