A superb original example of a fine quality hand-knotted Bakhtiari rug. These exquisite carpets are made by the Bakhtiari people, a historic tribe from the Zagros Mountains in southwestern Iran. Recognised for their durability and distinctive patterns.

The Bakhtiari tribe has been weaving rugs for centuries, and their designs reflect their nomadic lifestyle and connection to nature. While originally woven by nomads, most authentic Bakhtiari rugs today are produced in settled communities in west-central Iran, particularly in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
