Alfred Dunhill “Unique” Lift Arm Petrol Lighter, Engine Turned – c.1924–1932
£295.00
A fine and authentic early interwar Dunhill lift arm petrol lighter, produced in London during the 1920s.
This example represents the earlier mechanical configuration of the iconic “Unique” model. The lift arm functions as a snuffer cap, opening to expose the wick, while the flint wheel is manually operated to strike the flame. Lowering the arm extinguishes it. This simple and robust system predates later semi-automatic variants and is entirely correct for the period.
The body features an elegant engine-turned panel framed with brass edging, a refined and unmistakably Dunhill design language of the era. The lighter operates on a traditional petrol wick system and remains in working order.
Condition is very good, with attractive age-related patination and honest wear consistent with nearly a century of use.
An increasingly desirable piece of early 20th century gentleman’s accessories, combining mechanical ingenuity with restrained Art Deco styling.
