Vintage Indian Brick Moulds, Set of 3, Hand-Carved Stamped Wooden Industrial Boxes
£78.00
A superb and increasingly hard to find set of three vintage Indian brick moulds, each retaining its original hand-carved wooden stamp block.
Traditionally used in small-scale brick yards, these moulds were employed to shape clay bricks before firing, with the internal stamps used to impress the maker’s mark into the surface. Examples in this set are marked HAMA and MAHTO, likely representing individual makers or kiln owners.
Each mould is constructed from solid hardwood with iron-bound corners and riveted joints, showing the honest, utilitarian craftsmanship of traditional Indian workshop tools. The surfaces display a rich, worn patina built up through years of use, giving them a strong tactile and visual appeal.
Condition; Very good vintage condition for type. Expected wear including surface marks, staining and oxidised ironwork, consistent with age and use. Structurally sound with excellent decorative patina.
Measuring approximately 4” by 6” x 12.5”.
