A charming and historically interesting late Victorian/ early Edwardian silver-plated toast rack, engraved for use at the former Sheringham Hotel.

Crafted in EPNS, the rack features an elegant flowing form typical of the Arts & Crafts/ Art Nouveau influenced tableware of the period, with five divisions designed for serving toast at breakfast tables.

The front is engraved: “THE SHERINGHAM HOTEL CO LIMITED”, referencing the original operating company responsible for the hotel during the height of Victorian seaside tourism in Sheringham.

These identify the manufacturer as Daniel & Arter, a respected British maker active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries who supplied silver-plated wares to hotels, restaurants and retailers across Britain.

Condition; Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear and patina consistent with over a century of use. Structurally sound and displaying beautifully.
