An exceptional early 20th-century Russian wooden playing card box, decorated using traditional pokerwork (pyrography) techniques. The exterior is richly ornamented with hand-burned and stained folk scenes, including stylised figures and Kremlin-inspired Orthodox architecture, all set against a deliberately textured ground typical of Russian workshops of the period.

The lid bears a playing card motif, clearly indicating the box’s original purpose. The interior retains its original divided compartment with thumb cut-out, designed for storing playing cards or gaming accessories.

Very good antique condition with honest surface wear, patina, and minor age-related marks consistent with over a century of use. No major losses or structural repairs observed.
