A rare and highly evocative Chinese blue and white porcelain funerary epitaph box dating to the late Qing Dynasty, likely Guangxu period, circa 1880–1910.


Rectangular porcelain form with fitted lid, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a stylized archaic beast or taotie mask within geometric key-fret borders. The interior of both lid and base contain hand-incised funerary inscriptions recording lineage, birth details, and family burial arrangements.


Condition; Consistent with age and ritual use, including kiln grit inclusions, glaze irregularities, firing imperfections, and minor edge wear throughout.
