Large Victorian Mahogany Dressing Table Mirror with Barley Twist Supports & Jewellery Compartment – Circa 1860–1880
Sold out£395.00
A substantial and well-proportioned Victorian mahogany dressing table mirror, dating to around circa 1860–1880.
Of impressive scale, the mirror features beautifully turned barley twist supports, framing a rectangular mirror plate with gently arched top. The mirror pivots smoothly and is secured with original brass fittings, stamped in the manner of Birmingham makers such as C. Hawkes, reflecting the quality of its construction.
The base is elegantly shaped and incorporates a lined compartment, traditionally used for storing jewellery or personal items.
A particularly desirable feature is its knock-down construction, which the mirror plate can be removed via hinged brass fittings, and the turned supports unscrew from the base, allowing for easy transportation.
