Early Wakefield Castrol Oil Drum – Patent Motor Oil XL, 5 Gallon Petroliana, c.1920s/ 30s


A genuine early Castrol oil drum from the interwar period, bearing the desirable “Wakefield Castrol Patent Motor Oil XL” branding in the classic green, cream and red colourway.


This 5 Imperial gallon example retains a strong level of original paint beneath a layer of historic oil and grease, which has helped preserve the surface exceptionally well. The drum has been opened at the top for use, however importantly retains its original lower dispensing cap, complete with printed instructions, often missing on surviving examples.


A superb display item with authentic age and character, ideal for garage, workshop or interior use.


Original, unrestored condition. Top has been cut open. Surface wear, grease and light corrosion consistent with age. Lower cap intact with original printed detail.
