Antique Victorian 1887 Silver Shilling Encased Coin Fob – Queen Victoria

A charming late 19th-century Victorian silver coin fob, comprising an 1887 silver shilling mounted within a silver protective case, with a suspension loop and original chain attachment.

The obverse of the shilling features the veiled Jubilee portrait of Queen Victoria, with the date 1887 clearly visible. The silver case closely surrounds the coin, creating an attractive and unusual piece of Victorian personal jewellery/ fob hardware.

The fob retains a lovely aged patina commensurate with its age, with the coin and case showing pleasing signs of wear from use. A particularly interesting little survivor and a good example of the Victorian practice of incorporating coins into personal accessories and keepsakes.

Condition; Good antique condition, with age-related wear and patination.
