A Pair Of 1917 Dated WW1 Trench Art Vases From The Battles Of Arras & Soissons
A unique pair of 1917 dated trench art vases, rich in social history. One vase is dated 1917 on the base with “Soissons” hand etched across the middle, the other vase is not dated but has “Arras” hand etched across the middle.
The battle of Arras most notably being the British offensive on the Weston Front during the First World War. From 9th April to 16th May British troops attacked German defences near the French city of Arras on the Western Front. The British achieved the longest advance since trench warfare has begun.
