A chair designed for work, authority, and endurance. Circa 1885–1910 and retaining its original ivorine maker’s label fixed beneath the seat, a rare and important detail that firmly anchors its provenance.

The chair is constructed entirely from solid hardwood, with a thick, shaped plank seat displaying rich, untouched patina from decades of use. Its architectural stance is defined by substantial turned legs united by a robust H-stretcher, a configuration chosen for stability in professional environments rather than domestic refinement.

Decoration here is not applied, but engineered, turning, proportion, and joinery doing the work of embellishment. The result is a chair that feels almost architectural in character, sitting confidently between Victorian craftsmanship and early industrial design.

Condition is excellent for its age. The surface finish is original, with wear consistent with honest use, structurally sound.
