An exceptional and increasingly scarce survivor of Britain’s industrial past; an original Non-Textile Factories Notice dated 1st June 1933, believed to originate from the renowned Frank Maidment shoe factory of Norwich.

This example remains mounted to what is believed to be its original display board and retains a wonderfully rich, time-aged surface with deep varnished tones and authentic industrial wear throughout. The upper section retains handwritten entries detailing factory operations, employment hours and meal times, alongside signatures from factory management. The notice specifically references the factory “Closing Room”, directly linking the piece to the working life of Norwich’s once-thriving footwear industry.

Frank Maidment Ltd operated from Westwick Street, Norwich.

Condition is consistent with age and honest factory use, including edge wear, losses, surface marks, fading and historic staining.
