1930’s Enamel Advertising Sign For Carter, Paterson & Co. Ltd. Carriers
A single sided 1930’s Enamel Advertising Sign For Carter, Paterson & Co. Ltd. Carriers. Carter, Paterson & Co. Ltd. was a prominent British road haulage and parcel delivery firm, closely associated with the railway industry.
The company was founded in 1860 and became a limited company in 1887. The firm was later purchased by the “Big Four” railway companies in 1933 and, after nationalization in 1948, was absorbed into British Road Services.
Of note there are several original fixing nuts/ blots that remain in the sign and as clearly shown some blue paint to the front of the sign. We have not attempted any restoration on this sign, although I strongly suspect paint stripper would remove the paint and make a significant aesthetic improvement.
